Open the way for the real estate transfer fee in Portland
A real estate transfer fee is a small, one-time assessment — typically less than 1 percent — on the sale price of a home that is dedicated to fund affordable housing. For example, a 5 percent transfer fee, with the first $100,000 of the home sale price exempted, would amount to $500 on the sale of a $200,000 home. What needs to happen to make this happen?
We need Salem to overturn the realtor bought ban that outlaws creating a transfer fee in the first place. It's a two teared process - one getting the damn thing off the books, and two) creating a transfer fee through legislation or by putting it on the ballot!
